I've got a Creative Zen Nano Plus. That's where my journey into portable audio stands for the moment. I use it on holidays where I don't have a source of electricity. That reminds me to mention my holidays, I'm off for a three and a half month period, 28th May to 17 September. During this period I'll be using my portable, I usually listen to The Canterbury Tales on NAXOS audiobooks. I usually can't bare music because I'm accustomed to far better sound at home, but that changes over time with no music.
I'll be back Sept.17, I'll check up periodically when I get to an internet cafe or otherwise connection. I'm riding a bicycle around on 'the continent', Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria etc. There will probably be a choice release from one of the big film music labels so I need to be abreast of these things to have it waiting when I get back
.
All the best to all. Jo.

iPod Shuffle is portable and I heard that it has the best sound card. It also has the longest battery for all the iPods since it doesnt have a screen but you can't choose what song you want to listen to because it shuffles the songs.
80-100 dollars.
Nano is portable and holds decent amount of songs.
130-250 dollars
Video is just for showing off but I have one!. Unless you're gonna put tons of videos, photos, and songs, you're not gonna use the full 30, 40, or even 60 gigabytes of space.
250 - 350 dollars
