Rating system
All scores are rated with stars, ranging from 1 to 5, but like other review websites, this rating is just to classify the score. This is defenitely not a final statement. To have a full opinion, the review is the best way to check if the score is something you'd like or not. The following is how we rate scores:
Scores rated with an unbelievable 5 stars, are recordings that are the building blocks of your collection. These are a must buy as you will see very few fall into this category. It is a recording that you will enjoy just as much 20 years from now as you do today. Even if your budget is limited, find a way to get the recording.
These are recordings that are ones you will return to again and again and are popular additions to your CD collection. The music is strong enough that it can stand on its own away from the film, although seeing the picture is still a good idea. It is a recording you are more likely to pull from the shelf and listen to again after the initial listening.
Score with this rating are recommended as a positive listening experience. Most of the music is the kind you will want to return and listen to again. Your liking the movie is not a factor in purchasing the soundtrack. Your decision to purchase is limited more to your budget.
Recordings with this rating will be appreciated by the fan of either the movie or the composer. Other listeners will find the material not up to their standards. One or two tracks might grab their attention but overall this is one to pass on unless it is a good bargain. I would call these scores ones that you might listen to from time to time.
One star rated scores are recordings that you should only purchase on a closeout basis. While the music may work just fine in the film there is little listening experience especially away from the movie. I could call these one and store away scores!
